Mommas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowgirls

“Mammas, don’t let your babies grow up to be cowgirls.”

Well, I’m a daughter / somewhat modern day cowgirl in an entrepreneurial kinda way I guess haha. And you’re a son or daughter too at least, so you’ll have to forgive my cheesiness.

I never want to romanticize the startup/venture world but it can come out that way when I talk about the “Texan trailblazing spirit”.

Today’s a deep felt reminder that behind every entrepreneur, “successful” or “not” there’s probably a very worried mom.

Dedicating this Willie Nelson & Waylon Jennings’ country classic to other founders out there and the industry around us, oh and of course the moms— today can be a lot to put into words, but when felt through song it sometimes easier to convey.

PS— I’ve loved this photo, during middle of pandemic at my friend Neville’s awesome downtown Austin view from 3rd level. Reminds me when I thought rooftops were great social distancing haha. The world had just crashed, so drinkin’ a beer on a misty midnight, atop a slick roof with no shoes actually felt comfy lol. You think I mentioned this proud moment facing my fears to touch the sky… to mom? You bet I didn’t, but here I am still alive!!
